Vaccinations are important part of family and Public health. They prevent the spread of contagious , dangerous and deadly diseases.
Immunization is a way to build natural immunity to a disease without getting sick.
However, Vaccination of children should never be delayed due to any Pandemic because outbreak of vaccine preventable diseases such as Measles may increase due to decreased immunization during Pandemic even for a brief period.

Things to Remember During Vaccination

  1. Try to adhere to your child’s vaccination schedule and never miss a vaccine. If you do miss a vaccine, approach your pediatrician to discuss if it can be given at a later time.
  2. In case your child has fever, inform your doctor before immunization. Your doctor may need to reschedule.
  3. Always discuss Pros and Cons of vaccine and vaccination with your doctor.
  4. Doctor may give you the option of painful or painless vaccines. You may ask your doctor about pros and cons of both to decide.
  5. After vaccination, baby may develop fever. Visit your doctor in case fever persists beyond 1-2 days. You may give sponge bath to reduce your baby’s temperature.
  6. After any vaccination, if baby develops some reaction, immediately report your doctor.
  7. After any type of oral Vaccine baby can be breastfed.
  8. Carry your child’s favorite toy, blanket, etc. along to comfort them. This will help distract and comfort the child during and after the shot is given.
